Sacraments
Sacraments both signify and confer grace upon us and Christ is present in the actions we celebrate in each sacrament.
The Catechism of the Catholic Church states "Christ instituted the sacraments of the new law. There are seven: Baptism, Confirmation (or Chrismation), the Eucharist, Penance, the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian's life of faith. There is thus a certain resemblance between the stages of natural life and the stages of the spiritual life." CCC 1210
At St. Teresa of Calcutta, we regularly celebrate the sacraments, with the exception of the conferral of Holy Orders.
While funerals themselves are not sacraments, they are often celebrated with a Eucharistic sacrifice in which we unite ourselves with the departed through the Body of Christ. Find more information about funeral planning at our parish available here.
