Our preschool and Kindergarten program meets in the Parish Center on alternating Sundays from 10:15 to 11:30 am (or at the conclusion of the 9 am Mass). The children will take part in Catechesis of the Good Shepherd which is child-centered with activities that use many of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd materials.
The child, particularly the religious life of the child, is central to the interest and commitment of the Good Shepherd catechist. With this focus, the catechist embraces Maria Montessori’s vision of the human being and thus the attitude of the adult regarding the child. An integral part of the experience is an environment called the atrium, which aids in the development of religious life.
The atrium is a community in which children and adults live together in a religious experience which facilitates participation in the wider community of the family, the church and other social spheres. The atrium is a place of prayer, in which work and study spontaneously become meditation, contemplation and prayer.
Every child at St. Teresa of Calcutta has a right to religious education in some form. If you would like to make arrangements for religious education for someone with special needs, please call the Christian Formation Office at 966-7010.
Liturgy of the Word
- Twice a month (based on the Religious Education calendar), children ages 3 through grade 3 are invited to participate during Mass in Liturgy of the Word. The children will go with you to Mass, then Father or Deacon Allen will invite the children up near the altar where they will gather as a group and then process to the Gathering Space to hear the liturgy at their level. The children will return to their families during collection.
Schedule for Liturgy of the Word Gatherings (during 9 am Mass)
Liturgy of the Word will begin again in fall 2021.
